RAIN FORECAST
Ventura County Sheriff Emergency Services and The National Weather Service are monitoring a second storm in the series currently impacting Ventura County. Storm #2 will arrive on Wednesday afternoon and provide significant rainfall through Thursday morning. Totals for this storm are expected to be 1.00-2.00 inches for coasts/valleys and 2.00-4.00 inches in higher elevations, with peak intensities expected in the early morning hours on Thursday. Scattered showers are expected to persist into Thursday afternoon.
The highest rainfall intensities are expected on the south-facing slopes above Ojai and Santa Paula, although a Flood Watch has been issued for much of Ventura, Los Angeles and Santa Barbara Counties for the 24-hour period from 6:00 pm Wednesday – Thursday. Ventura County public safety personnel are closely monitoring the forecast surrounding the Mountain Fire Burn Area where most weather models are showing rainfall rates below the USGS debris flow threshold of 0.60 inches/hour. This is a very cold storm system and significant snowfall and gusty winds are predicted for our northern mountain areas. Snow levels are expected to drop to as low as 3,000 feet Wednesday night through Thursday.

About Team Rubicon
Team Rubicon provides post-fire sandbagging assistance as part of its disaster relief efforts to help communities affected by wildfires. After a fire, the risk of flooding or mudslides increases, particularly in areas where vegetation has been destroyed. Team Rubicon mobilizes teams of trained volunteers, often veterans, to fill and deploy sandbags to protect homes, infrastructure and critical areas from floodwaters. This assistance is crucial in reducing property damage, safeguarding residents and supporting local recovery efforts.
