Phase 2 of Debris Removal Has Began – What Residents Need to Know

Phase 2 of the debris removal process is now underway! As part of the continued recovery and rebuilding efforts, crews have begun conducting site and asbestos assessments, with debris removal operations officially starting last week.What

Residents Need to Know:

This cleanup process is expected to take up to a few weeks to complete. Please be assured that County is working closely with the City of Camarillo to ensure all measures are being taken to alleviate potential impacts in the neighborhoods that will be most affected by truck traffic and other cleanup activities.

  • Residents can expect to see multiple crews and trucks in affected neighborhoods, working to remove structural fire debris and clean up properties.
  • Debris removal crews will typically start operations at 7:00 a.m. and end around 4:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday. End times might need to be extended, when necessary.
  • To minimize dust and ash pollution, all debris will be misted continuously and securely wrapped in trucks during removal.
  • Air quality will be monitored throughout the debris removal process.
  • Trucks will avoid school pick-up and drop-off times on affected streets.
  • Traffic message boards will be placed to alert residents about debris removal activities and the presence of debris-hauling trucks on local roads.
  • Operations will be paused if weather conditions could result in safety issues.

Phase 2 includes several essential steps to make sure properties are cleared and safe for rebuilding, including:

  • Site and asbestos assessments
  • Removal of debris and ash
  • Soil testing
  • Erosion control

The time required to complete debris removal on individual properties is subject to site-specific conditions and will vary.
